What makes the Netherlands special...

The Netherlands is a small country with lots of meandering ways to do things. One rule of thumb is keep it simple any day and any hour and you will thrive. This country has zero tolerance for fakes and for ignorant people. Why, because everything is laid out. There are no back doors, no cheats(a few) and the entire system just works and goes to sleep. In other words everything operates via a schedule. People wake up go about their duties and call it a day. My suggestion is to come in to this country with an open mind and relax. Let the system work itself above all find something to do because a typical Dutch person's diary is 366 days planned. So try to make your own plans because no one has time to babysit you in this country. You will have to make yourself useful once your past the age of two. If you doubt it carry out a census. I have more one paragraph musings for you...please pop by from time to time. This is my forum to express my ever growing Dutch palate and trust me it is tasteful.

Tickled by Time...

The humans of the Netherlands have no time. Do adhere to come on time always. Wherever you have to find yourself designate about two hours to get there. Anything may go wrong, the tram might stop, a storm might begin, plan ahead of time. When making office appointments arrive on time. You would rather be five minutes late and alert your boss or the individual you intend to meet then be five minutes early. Get the difference though, people and the transport system work differently, catch the train, bus or whatever you may hop on in good time. In case you are early to most office appointments you will be left entertaining yourself not to magazines or music but to no one. No one will ask, 'how are you may I help you' until the time you/they suggested to meet. Trust me they are not being rude, these lovely humans of the Netherlands, are practicing the art of time keeping. That goes for showing up at peoples homes for dinner. If the dinner begins at 6.30pm arr...

No one will make you happy, Only you can make 'you' happy What is it that you want poor soul? Where do yo want to go? What gives you happiness? You alone know You alone can pen it down You alone can wish in the reality you wish to see You alone have power to re-focus your tomorrow So do that thing that sparks joy Find it at all costs Do it now... Do it well...Do it forever Create your happy every day dear soul

Organized People...

Staying in the Netherlands will get you on to some fine habits. Lesson number one is being organized. Everything and everyone walks in a straight line. The birds, trams, trains, people, bicycles, municipal council, shops, houses, you get it, the list goes on. So when you come here please mind your own business and walk in a straight line.
